QuestionPosted by rc_dread3d ago

does anyone read the second passage first in comparative RC?

comparative RC is the death of my score. ive heard some ppl read passage B first bc its usually the one with the stronger argument or the counterpoint, so u already know what to look for in passage A. has anyone actually tried this? did it help or just mess up ur timing?

any sentence with the word "usually" doesn't apply to this test

I tried it for a few PTs and it just confused me more honestly. Passage A sets the context, B responds to it. Reading out of order lost me the thread.

No one size fits all. Best approach is whatever leads to your own individual comprehension. If that means trying a different order, so be it. For me it can help to read the passage dealing with more concrete details (grounded in practice, not the theory one) first to get the lay of the land. In that case the order switches.
